This course provides the foundation for the procurement of goods and services for UNICEF,  in accordance with the standards and good practices defined in the Supply Manual and in other guidance.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the role of procurement in the UNICEF Supply Chain
  • Identify the procurement guiding principles and the UNICEF Regulatory Framework
  • Define roles and responsibilities in the procurement process
  • Use specific guidance to ensure ethics in procurement
  • Identify the different steps in the pre-contracting, contracting and post-contracting phases.

Audience

There are three main pathways through the course – each aimed at a different audience.

1.  Members of the Supply Function – the course is strongly recommended for all staff members working in the Supply Function.  Following this path users complete the entire course and earn the Procurement at UNICEF certificate.

2. CRC Members/Chairs – this is a streamlined pathway targeted at individuals nominated to serve on an Office’s CRC, who are required to complete this course.  Completing this path leads to the award of the CRC certificate.
Note that there is absolutely no requirement to complete the updated version of the course for CRC Members/Chairs who have already completed the original version.

3.  All other users – the course is recommended for all other UNICEF staff members, in particular programme/operations staff involved in the requisitioning process.  Users can self-select the modules of particular interest – if all modules are completed then users are awarded the Procurement at UNICEF certificate.

The course is made up of 4 modules with a total of 13 lessons. Each lesson can be taken individually or in combination with another:

Module 1: Procurement in the UNICEF Supply Function
