This course is designed to help you develop your understanding of the revised Core Commitments to Children (CCCs) and how they can be used in emergency response. Through this course and its accompanying toolkit, you will be able to learn how to provide an inclusive, timely, high-quality, child-centered humanitarian response in different types of crises.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the new key functions and standards of core programme and operational and programme commitments
- Understand the administrative and organizational obligations related to the core obligations to children in humanitarian action
- Master the tools available to plan and design emergency responses with UNICEF teams and partners
You will feel:
- Confident that the core commitments to children in humanitarian emergencies will be applied in your daily work
- Trust in supporting others to implement the core obligations to children in humanitarian action
- Enthusiastically to improve your skills further
You will be able to:
- Effectively use the core commitments to children in humanitarian action as an advocacy tool in your dialogue with governments, local authorities and partners, as well as local media and other external stakeholders
- Hold a briefing on the core commitments to children in humanitarian work with your teams to build their knowledge and capacity and use the core commitments to children in humanitarian action as a training and qualification tool for UNICEF staff
- Brief briefings with host governments, national and local authorities, as well as operational partners on UNICEF's core commitments to children in humanitarian action, and how to effectively implement these guidelines and framework
- Include core commitments to children in humanitarian emergencies in your office's annual action plans (AWPs), country programme documents (CPD), emergency response plans, humanitarian appeals (HACs) and partnerships in your office
- Include core commitments to children in humanitarian work in your office's management tools and in your teams' performance reports
- Training UNICEF staff on how to incorporate and mainstream key commitments to children in humanitarian action in their action plans
This training programme is applicable to all UNICEF staff, managers and partners, and provides the building blocks that increase their ability to deliver an initiated, timely, high-quality, child-centred humanitarian response in a variety of types of crises
