About the course

This course also builds on UNICEF's Risk-Responsive Programme Reference Document, the UNICEF Conflict Analysis Guide, and the Conflict Sensitivity Programming and Peacekeeping Reference Document.

At the end of the course, the learner will be able to analyze risks to children and vulnerable groups and will be equipped with the resources they need to elaborate a basic risk analysis and conflict analysis. The learner will also be able to better design, implement and monitor risk-informed programmes that foster resilience, sustainability, peace and social cohesion.

At the end of this course, the participant will be able to analyse the risks for children and people from vulnerable groups and will be equipped with the necessary resources to develop a basic analysis of risk accounting and conflict analysis. The participant will also be able to design, implement, and further monitor programs related to risk accounting to encourage resilience, sustainability, peace, and social cohesion.

Learning Objectives

After completing the course, you should be able to:

  • Explain what a risk awareness programme is and how the new global landscape makes risk-responsiveness, conflict sensitivity and peacekeeping essential to all of UNICEF's work.
  • Use new tools to carry out a child-sensitive risk analysis.
  • Understand the fundamental concepts of conflict and peace, and be able to carry out a child-centred basic conflict analysis.
  • Access the tools you need to design, adapt, and deliver risk-informed programs that promote resilience, peace, and social cohesion.
  • Ensure that risk-informed programmes that promote resilience, peace and social cohesion are part of integrated programmes and programmes in specific thematic areas.
  • Identify and protect against potential, negative and unintended consequences of programmes – while including UNICEF's "do no harm" programme and
  • Start monitoring programs on risk accounting, conflict sensitivity, and peacekeeping.

Methodology

Designed in asynchronous and individualized sequence, this course is developed in an interactive environment through which participants are able to choose to study it in a day, a week, or a longer duration.
