This induction course has been designed to assist you in familiarizing yourself with the UN System, thus helping you become effective as soon as possible.

The course has been developed by the UNSSC in cooperation with learning managers across the UN system and it is updated at regular intervals.

This online induction course is for new staff members of the UN system organizations and introduces the United Nations history and goals, highlights the many commonalities among all UN system organizations, and provides an overview of the roles and goals of the main UN system organizations. 

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, you will have become familiarized with the UN System.

Audience

This course is suitable to new staff of any level of seniority.

Length

It should take you about 1-2 hours to complete this self-paced course. 

Methodology

This course is composed  of three main modules, and each module covers a number of topics, broken down into several pages each. At the end of each module, there is a possibility to test your own knowledge and understanding of the issues addressed within the respective module.

Structure

The course has been divided into three modules:

  • Joining the UN
  • Understanding the UN System
  • Working as One UN
