Introduction

This course is part of the UN system’s ongoing commitment to address fraud and corruption and reinforce the UN’s zero tolerance position on fraud and corruption. The occurrence of these practices is contrary to the core values of the United Nations and damage the reputation of the organisation as a whole. These practices compromise UN Women’s ability to implement programmes effectively and deliver on its mandate. Fraud and corruption weaken donor trust and confidence in the organisation’s ability to deliver results in an accountable and transparent manner.

This mandatory course includes the following core modules designed for all UN Women personnel as well as Implementing Partners:

  • Fraud & Corruption Overview, including red flags 
  • Fraud & Corruption Awareness & Prevention, including examples and case studies of factors that contribute to fraud and corruption
  • Reporting Fraud & Corruption

In addition, the course includes an introduction, a course summary, reference material on fraud and corruption, and posters that you can print. A final assessment with 20 questions is required for you to pass in order to get the completion certificate.

Course Objectives

  • identify basic types and examples of fraud and corruption and related red flags
  • recognise the negative impact of fraud and corruption on our activities, operations and reputation
  • understand your obligations in preventing and combating fraud and corruption
  • know how to report suspected incidents of fraud and corruption

Audience

This course is mandatory for all personnel regardless of contract type. Current personnel of all contract types are expected to complete this course no later than 31 December 2018, and all newly hired personnel within 100 days of start of service.
