The Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (ENPD) is a collaboration between the European Union, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It aims to harmonize post-crisis assessments, including those generated by natural disasters.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the ENPD methodology and apply it in a key sector or to a cross-cutting problem.
- Perform cost of damage, loss, and recovery estimates for each sector of analysis.
- Understand the importance of conducting human impact and macroeconomic impact assessments.
- Learn how the ENDP informs the Disaster Recovery Framework.
Audience
This course is suitable for employees at all levels, with a general knowledge of Disaster Risk Management and some experience in post-disaster recovery, both in the areas of planning, assessment or implementation. External participants interested in learning the ENPD methodology must be sponsored by a UN, World Bank or European Union agency, fund or programme.
The duration
It should take approximately 45 minutes to complete this course at your own pace.
Structure
The course is made up of two modules.
- Introduction to the ENPD
- Context, initial information, identification of the consequences of the disaster and estimation of the cost of the consequences (concept of damage and loss)
*Note: Participants must pass a short assessment after completing each module.
