Gap analysis tools are multipurpose tools that can be used to assess gaps in geographical coverage, funding, assessments, human resources, supplies, and progress towards targets. This module introduces the use these tools in assessing a cluster’s progress towards targets.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain what a gap analysis is, its purpose and uses 
  • Demonstrate how to use a gap analysis tool in the monitoring phase to identify and highlight any gaps in the response  
  • Describe how to use data from a gap analysis process to create information products
  • Describe an example of a global level gap analysis

Audience

This module is suitable for people with some experience of information management in humanitarian contexts who wish to develop their knowledge and skills further, including those who need to engage with coordination and humanitarian architecture on this topic.
