Learning objectives
After completing this Learning Pathway, you should:
- Be able to describe the foundational concepts of SBC.
- Be able to apply your knowledge of research methods to commission and supervise SBC research that contributes to programme goals.
- Feel confident in your ability to assess and evaluate the use of theoretical frameworks in SBC programmes and projects.
- Be able to use a theory of change to guide SBC programme development.
- Be able to participate in planning an SBC programme or project.
Audience
This Learning Pathway is primarily for UNICEF staff and external partners who are interested in learning about the role of SBC in UNICEF. It is an intermediate pathway, which means that it will provide a mix of basic and detailed information about SBC and SBC-related disciplines in UNICEF.- UNICEF staff (country offices, Regional Offices and HQ)

- UNICEF and National Committee consultants, interns, volunteers, goodwill ambassadors and National Committee board members
- UNICEF government, civil society and corporate partners as appropriate
Length
The time commitment for this Learning Pathway will depend on which courses you choose. At a minimum, you should plan to spend a few hours per week for several weeks to complete this Learning Pathway. Please remember that any Foundational courses you complete for any Pathway will count for all pathways; in other words, you do not have to repeat courses to receive credit for them.
Methodology
This Learning Pathway includes five required courses, one elective, and access to the SBC Expert Series videos, which you are encouraged to view.
Structure
This Learning Pathway includes courses on Agora and YouTube videos.
