This on-line course provides a detailed explanation of the Social Protection Core Commitments for Children (CCC) in Humanitarian Action, how to operationalise the commitments, and the tools that are available to support coordination, planning, designing, resourcing, and implementing an emergency social protection programme.  

Learning objectives

This short course will provide you with an understanding of your responsibilities and the necessary actions required to coordinate, plan, design, resource, and deliver an effective emergency social protection response. By the end of the course, you will: 

  1. Be familiar with the social protection core commitments for children (CCC) in humanitarian action, and related cross-cutting commitments.
  2. Understand the responsibilities of social policy staff and the necessary actions to ensure effective coordination between social protection and humanitarian cash coordination systems.
  3. Know the key actions and considerations required to plan, design, resource, and deliver an effective emergency social protection response that responds to the needs of the most vulnerable groups and aims to ensure accountability to affected populations.


Audience

The CCCs form the core UNICEF policy and framework for humanitarian action and are mandatory for all UNICEF personnel. This course is primarily for country office Social Policy staff responsible for social protection programming.  


Length

The course should take approximately 4.5 hours to complete.


Methodology

This is a self-paced course that consists of six parts. Each part is divided into 4-11 short lessons and is followed by a quiz. You can only complete the course after successfully answering the questions at the end of each part.
