This module provides an overview of advocacy for Child Protection humanitarian coordination. It explores the purpose of advocacy for Child Protection within the Protection Cluster. It explores how to plan and execute advocacy within the Protection Cluster to support the work of Child Protection actors and, in contributing to improved outcomes for children, it also considers the responsibilities of different stakeholders. The modules includes examples of Child Protection advocacy messages. 

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain the role of advocacy within Child Protection humanitarian coordination,
  • Summarize the roles and responsibilities of the Child Protection coordination staff and other key stakeholders in advocacy for Child Protection within the Protection Cluster, 
  • Plan effective advocacy for the Child Protection within the Protection Cluster, 
  • Define key advocacy messages for Child Protection,
  • List global Child Protection advocacy strategies, initiatives and resources 
  • Reflect on your experience with Child Protection advocacy and identify ways you can improve your practice.

This module is suitable for anyone involved in Child Protection coordination who wish to learn more about Child Protection advocacy.
