(THIS COURSE IS UNDER DEVELOPMENT - PLEASE DO NOT ENROL)
This self-paced learning course is part of the Global WASH Cluster (GWC) training pathway, created for WASH Cluster partners programme staff and WASH cluster coordination staff to ensure the effective WASH coordination and programming in humanitarian contexts
Course background
Market-Based Programming (MBP), including Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), is being increasingly applied across humanitarian responses—both broadly and within the WASH sector. In 2016, the GWC established a global-level Cash and Markets Technical Working Group (TWIG) to provide guidance and support to WASH actors in implementing high-quality MBP.
Since its formation, the GWC and TWIG members have led a range of initiatives to raise awareness and build capacity on MBP in the WASH sector. These initiatives include:
- Developing both face-to-face and online training courses
- Disseminating technical guidance on MBP for WASH
- Conducting an evidence review on the effectiveness of MBP in achieving WASH outcomes
This online course is one of those key initiatives. It was developed collaboratively by the GWC and its partners, with leadership from UNICEF, Save the Children, and the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA). Originally delivered as a six-week distance learning course with facilitated sessions, it is now available as a condensed, self-paced version for greater accessibility and flexibility.
