The "Building Gender IQ" course by HeForShe & PwC is a dynamic learning platform that educates users on gender equality.

Created by UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, the HeForShe solidarity movement for gender equality provides a systematic approach and targeted platform where a global audience can engage and become change agents for the achievement of gender equality in our lifetime. Since its launch on 20 September 2014, at the United Nations, BY UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson, hundreds of thousands of men from around the world including Heads of State, CEOs, and global luminaries from all walks of life have committed to gender equality.

Learning objectives

What are the benefits of equality? What are the costs of inequality? What is unconscious bias and do you have it?

At the end of this course, you will learn that:

  • Many of our ideas about gender have been created by our societies

  • Contrary to what some people think, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to achieve a gender-equal world

  • Each time we question an assumption about gender, we contribute to a more equal world

Audience

This course is suitable to the general public who want to explore more about the benefits of gender equality - not only to women, but for all of society.

Length

It should take you about 35 minutes to complete this course. 

Methodology

This course will include video-based expert lectures and individual activities to build awareness about gender and the impact of gender norms and stereotypes.

Structure

This course is composed of four modules:

  1. Introduction – Understanding Gender & Gender Norms
  2. The Global Cost of Gender Inequality
  3. The Benefits of Gender Equality
  4. Call to Action – how can we each play a role in creating inclusive cultures and working towards gender equality?
