TERMS OF USE
Welcome to the Agora website!
Agora is a personal learning and development site operated by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) offering a collection of resources, tools and services for your personal use and viewing.
Please take
a moment to read the following Terms of Use. These Terms of Use constitute an agreement between
you and UNICEF. By using this site, you agree that you have read, understood,
and accepted the terms and conditions contained below. If you do not agree to any of these terms and
conditions, please do not use this site.
These Terms
of Use are subject to change, so please make sure you check out this page from
time to time. The date of the most recent revisions will appear at the bottom
of this page. If you continue to use this site, this means that you accept any
changes to or revisions of these Terms of Use.
Your privacy is very important to us – please also read our Privacy Policy, which will walk you through how UNICEF collects, stores, and uses the information that you provide to us. By using this site, you are confirming to us that you are agreeing to our Privacy Policy.
As used in these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refers to UNICEF. The terms “you,” “your”, “yours” and “user” refer to you as the individual or organization accessing or using this site.
1. SITE ACCESS AND ACCOUNT CREATION
The site can be accessed and used by UNICEF users and Guest/Partner users. All users are provided with personalized access to content as well as specific features, based on their profile, such as learning activity and records.
“UNICEF users” are staff or consultants for UNICEF and National Committees to UNICEF for whom an Agora account is created automatically as soon as they become engaged with UNICEF or a National Committee to UNICEF. To become a “Guest/Partner user” you have to register on the site and create a user account. If the institution you are affiliated with has a partnership with UNICEF, you may still need to create a user account.
In setting up your account, you are required to enter certain information, such as your name, city/town, country and e-mail address, and create a username and password. Optional fields are available, in case you want to provide information relating to your organization or your interests. You warrant that all such information provided by you is accurate, current, complete, and complies with your obligations under this agreement. You also agree to maintain and update such information to keep it accurate, current and complete. You acknowledge that if any such information provided by you is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, we reserve the right to terminate your use of this site.
Your access to the site is personal. You are not allowed to share details of the account that has been provided to you or created by you. You are responsible for all uses of your account, even if your account is used by someone else. Sharing account details may result in temporary or definitive suspension of your rights to use this site.
You acknowledge that UNICEF may choose, but is not obligated, to make any inquiries, either directly or through third parties, that UNICEF deems necessary to validate your registration information, including without limitation engaging third parties to provide verification services. UNICEF reserves all rights to take legal actions against anyone who misrepresents personal information or is otherwise untruthful about their identity.
If you have any reason to believe that your account is no longer secure – if your password has been stolen, for instance – you should change your password as soon as possible. If you cannot access your account to change your password, notify us at agora@unicef.org
2. USE OF THE SITE BY MINORS
Use of this site by minors is subject to the consent of their parent or guardian. We advise parents or guardians who permit their children to use this site that it is important that they communicate with their children about their safety online. Minors who are using this site should be made aware by their parent or guardian of the potential risks to them and of their obligation to comply with the Terms of Use when using this site.
We will do our best to assess any possible risks to minors from third parties when they use this site and we will decide in each case whether it is appropriate to use moderation of the relevant service (including what kind of moderation to use) in light of those risks.
For minors under ages 14, the email address used for registration must be that of their parent or guardian.
