Performance Management
Overview
The Performance Management unit’s goal is to strengthen the Organization’s effectiveness by facilitating and encouraging a coaching culture through supportive performance management approaches and practices. The PM unit provides on-going support and enhancement of the organization’s approach to performance management from different angles.
Deliverables
- Design, implement and monitor the key tools that allow UNICEF staff to conduct their individual performance management exercise. These tools include the performance management (PM) system, the PM policy, a dedicated PM web page on the intranet, as well as year-round help desk for all staff.
- Select, train, coach, and support a pool of internal champions on PM matters that can train other staff on a core learning programme called, “Managing Performance for Results” (MP4R); PM best practices; and who also can serve as resource persons for PM peer-to-peer advice and engagement. The current pool of PM champions includes 70 staff members globally distributed across all regions.
- Design and launch of e-learning courses based on MP4R and design of additional curriculum for managers and staff based on a modular approach to MP4R.
- As PM best practices get introduced in the organization, the PM unit is introducing programmes that link PM with learning and growth. To do this, the unit is rolling out a team-coaching program for up to 40 intact teams at UNICEF. It will also look for synergies within OLDS to better and further link PM with learning and growth.
