UNICEF's corporate learning programmes for Management and Leadership development are expanding, with the addition of the Dynamic Leadership Certificates (DLC-Prime, DLC-Select and DLC-Executive). UNICEF has partnered with Harvard Business Publishing to deliver these certificates.
The DLC Programme is NOT a second-tier programme to the other corporate leadership development training programmes currently available at UNICEF (MDP, LDP and SLDP). Rather, the DLC Programme offers an alternative approach for staff members and serve as complementary counterparts to the blended programmes.
Programme Details
The DLC is a self-paced interactive learning programme focusing on management and leadership development. There are three levels of certification: DLC-Prime for first level managers and technical experts (managing project teams), DLC-Select for mid-level managers, and DLC-Executive for senior managers.
Methodology
The programme provides:
- A comprehensive, practical emphasis: The courses in each certificate emphasize best practice principles and the application of knowledge to decision making in everyday practice, so you'll be able to apply what you learn to your own work situations.
- Hands-on experience as a distance learner: Experience with a variety of formats provides valuable insights into best practices for course design, teaching, and learner support.
- Peer networking: You will have opportunities to learn with other UNICEF colleagues addressing some of the same challenges.
- Evaluation and feedback: The knowledge and skills you develop as you go through the programme are evaluated through projects, reports, and online activities.
Structure and Content
Each certificate includes approximately 13-15 mandatory courses and 2 elective courses. Some course work involves action learning activities. The total learning time for each certificate is approximately 80-150 hours. Learner will have opportunities to develop skills related to self-management, management of others and business management. Call for application (for Cohort X) will be open on TBD. Application period will be TBD. Applications must be submitted online during this period. No applications will be accepted beyond mid-night, TBD. The UNICEF Leadership Academy will NOT accept a fax or email version of the application form or other attachments. As a general rule, priority will be given to applicants with more supervisees reporting to them, as well as to those who have never participated in any corporate training programmes before.

Frequently Asked Questions?
Can I apply for the DLC-Prime and the MDP? DLC-Select and the LDP? DLC-Executive and the SLDP?
Yes you can apply for both but you cannot be enrolled in both programmes at the same time. We advise that you sit down and discuss which programme best meets your needs with your manager. Because the curriculum of the MDP is linked and complementary to the DLC-Prime we suggest you first complete the DLC-Prime before you apply to the MDP. This would be the same for the DLC-Select vs LDP, and DLC-Executive vs SLDP. Please note however, that DLC-Select is the mandatory pre-requisite for the LDP and DLC-Executive is the mandatory pre-requisite for the SLDP. If you do apply for the MDP, LDP or SLDP as well as the DLC at the same time, and are admitted in both programmes, your must complete the DLC prior to the commencement of the programmes mentioned above.
I completed the MDP in 2014 and 2015, can I apply for the DLC-Select?
If you have completed the MDP, you can apply for the DLC-Select provided you meet the eligibility criteria. Please note that priority will be given to staff who have not participated in any of our corporate learning programmes.
I have completed the LDI, can I apply for the DLC-Executive?
You can apply for the DLC-Executive if you meet the eligibility criteria. If you have completed the LDI, you may wish to consider the DLC-Select which covers new concepts including action projects you may have not covered in the LDI.
If I completed the MDP, LDP or SLDP in the last three years, can I still apply for the DLC?
Yes you can apply for a DLC certificate. Please note that priority will be given to staff who have not participated in any of our corporate learning programmes.
I was told that I had been waitlisted for the last cohort. Do I need to re-apply?
Applicants who had been waitlisted from the last cohort do not need to re-apply. However, their applications will once again be reviewed and evaluated in comparison with other applicants.
Do I get to travel to attend a workshop?
The programme is a self-paced online programme, therefore there is no travel involved.
Can I enroll in all three certificates?
You can only apply for one certificate at a time (see eligibility criteria).
Can I enroll in only one module and not the entire certificate?
No, if you enroll, you are responsible to complete all requirements of the certificate.
What is the cost of the programme to me?
None - UNICEF will cover the cost of the programme.
Are these certificates linked to a promotion?
Please note that successful admittance/completion of the DLC is NOT linked in any way to or a qualifying factor for promotion, placement in a talent pool or selection to a given vacancy.
How many seats are available?
250 seats per cohort will be made available.
