Welcome to this course on UNICEF's Toolkit for Managing Construction Projects.
This e-learning course is developed to equip in-house Construction Engineers with generic project management tools to gather information, communicate findings and progress, and record construction project activities;
This course is one of the construction trainings organized in a modular structure to provide the in-house Construction Engineers with foundational knowledge and guidance on how to do construction at UNICEF.

Structure
The course is made up of nine modules, for approximately 1.5 hour of total learning time.
- Module 1: Introduction to UNICEF's Toolkit for Managing Construction Projects
- Module 2: Inception and Planning Stage
- Module 3: Procurement or Partnership for Engineering Services Stage
- Module 4: Implementation of Engineering Services Stage
- Module 5: Procurement or Partnership for Construction Works Stage
- Module 6: Execution of Works Stage
- Module 7: Closeout Stage
- Module 8: Cross-cutting Tools for Managing a Construction Portfolio
- Module 9: Remote Monitoring
- Final Assessment
- Course evaluation
Learning objectives
- Identify tools and templates to recognize problems, propose actions and assign priorities to effectively manage construction projects and relevant contracts;
- Record project activities to ensure project continuity during staff turnover and rotation, and to respond to claims and litigations if they arise;
- Contribute to improved quality of UNICEF construction projects and reduce risks to the organization.
Audience
Primarily UNICEF Engineers in country offices, as they lead the technical component of construction projects.
Supply and Programme colleagues involved in construction projects can also familiarize themselves with the tools to better understand the technical aspects of construction projects.
Furthermore, country offices can opt to share some tools with external parties, such as Implementing Partners, Engineering Firms and Contractors.
