This course covers Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in Education Cluster coordination. It clarifies that MHPSS requires multi-sectoral coordination within the humanitarian cluster system and explains why it is important for the Education Cluster to collaborate with other clusters, area of responsibilities and MHPSS Technical working groups. It helps Education Cluster Coordinators identify ways for collaboration on MHPSS, to improve the quality of the Education response across all stages of the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC).
The content in this course is tailored for Education Cluster or Education in Emergency Working Group (EiE WG) Coordinators, EiE actors and Information Management Officers. The module was created by the Global Education Cluster (GEC).Learning objectives
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Understand key MHPSS definitions and guiding concepts.
- Establish a clear understanding of MHPSS in the context of Education in Emergencies (EiE), in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE).
- Recognise opportunities for collaboration across sectors and with different clusters/ AoRs/ technical working groups to coordinate MHPSS interventions more effectively in EiE.
- Integrate MHPSS in Education Cluster coordination across the Humanitarian Program Cycle through tailored, context-specific, resource-optimised, and actionable steps.
Audience
This course targets primarily Cluster Coordination teams, including Coordinators and Information Management Officers (IMOs). It is also very relevant to all Cluster partners involved in humanitarian response, service delivery and programme implementation and those working in all clusters/ sectors/ Areas of Responsibility (AoRs).
Methodology
This course is composed of an introduction and four short self-paced lessons. Each lesson includes interactive content and activities to reinforce and evaluate learning, as well as concrete examples and tips to better integrate MHPSS into the Humanitarian Coordination System.
