This course covers children’s participation in Education Cluster coordination – what it is, why it is important, and how to do it safely, ethically, practically, and simply across all stages of the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC).
Learning objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Explain the importance and added value of facilitating children’s participation in Education Cluster coordination functions.
- Identify essential, practical requirements for safe and ethical participation of all girls and boys, including children with disabilities.
- Identify opportunities for children’s participation in each phase of the HPC.
- Identify common barriers to children’s participation and possible solutions.
- Apply learning to practical scenarios, demonstrating an understanding of how to facilitate children’s participation across the HPC.
Audience
This course is primarily aimed at Education Cluster/ Education in Emergencies (EiE) working group coordination teams but is relevant to those working in all clusters/ sectors/ AoRs.
Methodology
This course is composed of an introduction, four short self-paced lessons, and a summary conclusion. Each lesson includes interactive content and activities to reinforce and evaluate learning. Concrete examples from different countries are provided to ground learning in real contexts and illustrate how to put child participation into practice.
