Learning objectives

At the end of this e-Course, you will be able to:

  • Understand how UNICEF mobilizes resources at HQ, Regional and Country levels and how you, as a staff member, contributes to this process;
  • Create a practical and solid resource mobilization plan;
  • Gain expertise for effective donor negotiations and proposals;
  • Unpack the complex donor landscape and understand different funding opportunities, instruments and modalities;
  • Create quality donor reports as a tool to mobilize additional resources;
  • Recognize donor contributions while balancing results and visibility aspects; and
  • Unpack the concept and scope of leveraging resources in the context of UNICEF’s work.

Audience

Whether you are in programme, planning, M&E, communications, resource mobilization, or other operations – this e-Course is designed for all staff at the HQ, Regional and Country levels. PPD and PFP staff at the HQ level, and UNICEF Representatives, Deputy Representatives, Resource Mobilization staff, and Sections Chiefs at the CO level are particularly expected to complete this e-Course.

This e-Course is open only to UNICEF staff.

Length

It will take you about 6-7 hours to complete this self-paced e-Course. Each lesson covers a different topic and takes about 1 hour to complete.

Methodology

Whether you are in a least-developed donor-orphan country, a protracted emergency facing donor fatigue, an upper-middle income country that donors are abandoning, a donor-darling country finding it hard to say no to funding for unplanned activities, or any other fundraising context, this course is for you. Be part of a virtual UNICEF country team in Myrovia (a fictional country), and participate in hands-on exercises, interactive discussions, and donor simulations based on good practices within UNICEF as well as real-life case studies, evaluations and expert interviews.
