This module will introduce you to the humanitarian system and the humanitarian coordination, its history and foundational principles. Additionally, you will learn all about the cluster approach, the cluster architecture and the cluster functions.
Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Be informed about the history and the origins of the Humanitarian system and the humanitarian coordination.
- Understand "who does what" within the humanitarian coordination system at global and at country level.
- Know more about the cluster approach, its activation and deactivation, the cluster architecture and the cluster functions.
- Engage with the Minimum Commitments for participation in cluster mechanisms (including sector coordination), the Humanitarian Principles and the Principles of Partnership.
Audience
This module is an introductory-level course aimed at anyone who is interested in developing skills and knowledge in cluster coordination in humanitarian contexts, and who needs to engage with humanitarian architecture on this topic. It is part of the recommended learning path for cluster partners and cluster coordination teams at national and sub-national level.
