Training Objectives

The training aims to enhance the capacity of UNICEF Supply Division (SD) personnel to:

  • Understand the terminology and tools of the profession of project management.
  • Be able to apply the tools and techniques to your projects/work.
  • Be prepared for the Project DPro certification exam.

By the end of the training, participants are expected to:

  • Develop realistic project designs
  • Identify, analyze, and engage stakeholders
  • Elaborate project scope
  • Plan effectively and develop realistic schedules
  • Understand the role that effective project governance plays
  • Identify, assess and respond to project risks
  • Plan and organize project implementation
  • Proactively manage issues and changes to deliver on time, on budget and on scope
  • Monitor, evaluate and control project activity
  • Define responsibilities for your project team
  • Close down projects successfully
  • Know which tools can be applied immediately to projects
  • Know where to continue to learn more about project management.

This training is for all UNICEF SD personnel who wish to advance their project management skills.

This is an 8 week course:

  • Start Date: Monday 3 February, 2025
  • Exam Date: approx. 2 weeks after the end of the course

Methodology and Format 

  • Format: Online.
  • Methodology:
      • The first component will be a series of facilitated, e-learning modules that will be completed on Pyramid Learning's Learning Experience Platform.  As you go through the course, you will interact with your facilitator and other learners, exploring ideas and participating in conversations about the different skills and tools of project management.  Learning activities include course readings, instructional videos, and e-learning modules.
      • The second component will be a series of webinars, which will give us an opportunity to explore the material in more detail and above all, help you to contextualise for your own projects and work. These webinars will run in parallel with the e-learning modules.

  1. Optional Project DPro certification which is focused on project management in the development/humanitarian sector.
