UPSHIFT is a social innovator accelerator for young people aged 10-24 years that rapidly unlocks their generational potential to create real and tangible change in their lives and their communities. We use Human-Centered Design to build on young people’s passions and turn them into action and achievement by developing professional and transferable skills through experimental learning practices.
Learning objectives
At the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the process of adapting UPSHIFT to your country content.
- Recognize the roles of all actors in the UPSHIFT implementation ecosystem.
- Understand and utilize the steps for establishing and conducting an UPSHIFT bootcamp and associated activities for a UNICEF country office and its implementing partners.
- Understand mentorship, specifically their role, responsibilities, competencies behaviors and relationships with participants.
- Achieve a deeper understanding of the roles of mentors and facilitators through practical examples and hands-on experience.

The target audience is UNICEF staff and implementing partners.
Length
It should take you approximately 3 hours to complete this course.
Methodology
The course is self-paced, and composed of four modules: delivering UPSHIFT, Mentorship, Facilitation and Examples and Practice. Each module provides detailed information on how to deliver UPSHIFT in your country as well as tools for mentors and facilitators. After each module, there will be a short quiz that encourages the course taker to reflect on what was learned in each module.
